VICTORIA, BC — March 06, 2020 — 1193269 BC Ltd., doing business as Shelter Cannabis (“Shelter” or “The Company”) is pleased to announce the addition of lobbyist, writer and communications expert Jamie Shaw to its leadership team, as Director of Communications and Culture.

Shaw’s position at Shelter connects her to company divisions including Shelter Brands and the newly launched Shelter Craft Collective. Shelter facilitates cannabis processing through Saskatchewan-based licensed producer Agro-Greens.

Shaw began working with medical cannabis patients in 2004, as a (former) Director of the BC Compassion Club Society. Prior to legalization, she successfully lobbied for, and consulted on the first storefront retail cannabis regulations in Canada, and was a key witness in the Allard trial that won patients the right to grow for themselves.

With communications, government relations and advocacy experience for numerous cannabis companies and initiatives, Shaw currently holds several board seats and advisory positions in the cannabis industry, and is a founding partner of Groundwork Consulting.

“We’re excited to have Jamie’s extensive experience in cannabis advocacy and communications compliance on our team,” said Shelter’s CEO Mark Hauk, “Especially as we bring our cannabis products, brands and partnerships into more territories across Canada. Jamie’s substantial advocacy on behalf of independent growers, dispensaries and consumers aligns well with Shelter’s commitment to bringing innovative, quality cannabis products to Canadians.”

Shaw agreed, adding, “Mark (Hauk, Shelter CEO) is someone I’ve admired in the space for a long time, I respect his values and determination, and am really looking forward to seeing how we can disrupt the cannabis space together.”
