The craft of collaboration

Canada’s reputation for the best weed in the world is built on craft cannabis. Our country’s cultivators have spent years hunting genetics, breeding, perfecting their grow conditions, and caring for plants to create exceptional consumption experiences. Shelter Craft Collective promotes craft farmers and helps get their coveted products to consumers by reducing the barriers to the legal market. Our two-tiered approach brings quality cannabis to patients at a lower cost than adult-use retail through the Shelter Market Craft Medical Program, while the Shelter Craft brand features rotating small batch offerings available to all consumer markets.

Shelter Market Medical Craft Program

The Shelter Market Medical Craft Program is an opportunity for micro-cultivators in Canada to expedite getting their products to market while providing quality craft cannabis directly to patients through our medical cannabis e-commerce platform, Shelter Market.

Products are sold under the Shelter Craft brand with your farm listed on the packaging and profiled on the Shelter website. A portion of your harvest is reserved for the Medical Craft Program, providing patients access to a reliable and consistent supply of premium craft cannabis at a standardized price, up to 50% cheaper than adult-use retail.

Gnomestar Craft Cannabis

Gnomestar Craft Cannabis grows indoor, small-batch cannabis in Delta, British Columbia. Their team focuses on creating truly great consumption experiences using growing techniques such as soil mixtures that nurture the true genetic expression of the plant. Gnomestar flower is hand-harvested, dried over a cool 10-day slow hang-drying process, hand-trimmed to maximize cannabinoids and terpenes, and is cold-cured over several weeks to ensure a smooth, flavourful smoke every time.

Dunn Cannabis

Dunn Cannabis is a micro-cultivator based in British Columbia. The small team transitioned from the legacy market and is focused on growing quality cannabis and connecting with their supporters.

Master Grower

Logan Dunn

Origin Story:

I grew up in Abbotsford, British Columbia. I was an MMAR patient from back in the day and transitioned to an ACMPR licence while collecting some fantastic genetics during my 20 years of growing cannabis. Once adult-use legalization opened up, I jumped at the chance to operate more transparently and it’s been one of the best decisions of my life.

Growing Method:

Ultimately one of best growing secrets is fantastic genetics. When grown well, cultivars have fairly consistent THC and terpene values. I was able to bring in 74 cultivars from my medical transition and I'm confident they will wow experienced consumers.

Memorable Cannabis Experience:

My most memorable times with cannabis have come from experiencing other craft cultivators flowers. Meeting good people with a common goal has brought a lot of positivity to my life and for that I'm blessed.

Verte West

Verte West is a small scale cannabis producer on Vancouver Island. The team comes from the legacy market, and have brought their experience and passion to the new legal cannabis world in Canada. Verte West focuses on unique tall plants with flavour profiles that require attention, and sometimes longer growing times that other growers may shy away from. Their goal is to consistently produce high quality craft cannabis by hang drying, hand trimming, and employing local help. Verte West is self-funded, locally owned and operated. They don't have a board or fancy VP's, just a band of brothers focusing on growing great cannabis.

Master Grower

Tyler Hass

Origin Story:

I’m from Victoria, British Columbia and have 10 years of growing experience under the MMAR regulations, and have transitioned to Canada’s new legal market.

Growing Method:

Instead of having set schedules and regiments, we try to adapt to each room and strain. We focus on smaller rooms, less than 400 sq ft (probably smaller than most micros). We ensure we are hands on with the plants everyday. And attention to detail, it’s the little things that add up to a good crop.

Memorable Cannabis Experience:

Let’s just say it involves a Mike Tyson fight and a fish tank…

Nicholas Langor

Origin Story:

I grew up in St. John’s, NL and was an ACMPR medical grower for four years.

Growing Method:

We designed and built our facility with a key objective of optimizing the micro-cultivation licence class in terms of production output, quality and operational efficiency. We are passionate about craft and culture, our brand KRFT embodies this spirit whole-heartedly. This passion without doubt sets us apart from others. Passion for the craft and passion for good, well-designed systems that mesh together to provide the foundation for the cultivation of the most deluxe genetics.

Memorable Cannabis Experience:

I have always had a passion and curiosity for plants. Cannabis is unlike other plants as it requires a much more intimate connection to unlock genetic potential and expressions. Cultivating cannabis is an experience in itself, one that lends itself to a constant pursuit of perfection. It is a tireless experience that never ceases to amaze.

Bob's Better Buds

Bob’s Better Buds is a family-run farm located on the Niagara Peninsula that is licensed for indoor and outdoor micro-cultivation. The 5-acre property is in the heart of wine country, where my wife and I care for their plants with support from our friends and family.

Master Grower

Bob Ritchie

Origin Story:

I grew up in a small rural town called Woodburn, which is just south of Hamilton, Ontario. I have many years of experience with manufacturing processes, and the computer and people systems associated with them. Growing cannabis is no different; you need to understand the variables and do your best to control them. I have applied the same basic principles to growing cannabis and cannabis has rewarded me with some amazing results.

Growing Method:

Time spent with our plants is the most important thing we do. When you spend everyday in the garden you will come to realize cannabis plants communicate very effectively. We also value continuous improvement. We measure and monitor our process and never miss an opportunity to experiment and improve through quantitative data analysis.

Memorable Cannabis Experience:

A friend I grew up with was born with a bad kidney and had a transplant within months of being born. He has been on anti-rejection drugs his entire life and his physical health has declined over the years. Being farm kids we experimented and grew our own Cannabis, it helped provide some relief and comfort for him.  He did eventually get his medical licence but unfortunately was arrested a number of times.

Willow Weed

Willow Weed is a father-and-son outdoor micro-cultivator located on the family-owned Willow Pond Farm in Ontario. They operate at the intersection of regenerative cannabis farming and growing premium, small batch dried flower.

Master Grower

David & Jacob Spiro

Origin Story:

The Spiro family has deep roots in farming. Historically, our ancestors have turned to the soil to make their living and almost 100 years later we have shifted our focus to cannabis. We bring decades of experience in cultivating cannabis for medical consumers and are bringing our craft to the emerging recreational market.

Growing Method:

Unlike traditional farming, cannabis plants require daily attention and care. Our family coddles these plants right up to maturity when we harvest by hand, hang dry, and cure. No corner is cut, and quality is never sacrificed. We use organic, regenerative living soil with no synthetic additives, pesticides or chemicals. Our small, outdoor grow is fed with glacier water from the Oak Ridges Moraine, and finished with a trade secret two-month minimum curing process involving airtight containers and daily inspection.

Memorable Cannabis Experience:

David has been immersed in cannabis culture since the 60s and carries a tremendous respect for the plant. Jacob turned to cannabis after an arthritis diagnosis, which has helped him find energy, relieve pain, and develop a career that allows him to truly connect with his roots and a broader community of consumers.
